Shoes are some of our BIGGEST movers and money makers! However, many shoes just don't make the cut due to excessive wear and shoddy manufacturing. Before you waste space in your bag of items to bring in, please look at these guidelines!
These two pictures at the right is an example of what 10 seconds with a Magic Eraser can do to the toes of your Vans or Converse style shoes.
Another tip I always share is...
WASH YOUR SHOES
BUT DON'T DRY IN THE DRYER!
Spray the inside soles with Oxi-Clean or some other stain remover and throw them in the wash! You will be amazed at how clean they get. Then just set them on the dryer or window sill to air dry.
Remaining stains on the rubber parts could then be wiped with a Magic Eraser for real shine! All this effort increases YOUR earnings and maximizes their chance to sell and stay out of the land-fill!
First and foremost!! Check the TREADS and SEAMS for excessive wear. If any sole seam is pulling away from the main part of the shoe, then water can leak in and the functionality of the shoe is compromised. As for the tread, is it smooth, worn-through to the next layer, or even mostly smooth? If so, it's probably not suitable for our quality standards as it is near the end of its functional life.
This picture at left is an example of what NOT to put in the bag. Worn, dirty, fraying, missing soles, holes, and other lace defects are not acceptable.
Once you have deemed the shoe to be of proper and functioning order, with all seams in tact and treads with life left, then let's CLEAN THEM UP!
